The Waiting Game

This has been a pretty stressful week. On Monday, I went to the doctor to have my follicles measured and counted. I have 3 in each ovary, the largest measuring at 11x11 in my right ovary. Each follicle grows approximately 2 (whatever) per day. Once they reach 20x20 (whatever), I'll be instructed to give myself the Ovadrel shot in my stomach. 36 hour after that, I'll go in for an IUI. I am scheduled to go back for another measurement/count tomorrow. By my guess, the follicles should measure about 17x17 and be around 20x20 on Saturday - which is great, but here's what is stressing me out so much... we have to be precise about the timing of when my follicles are the correct size, when to take the shot, how "old" Josh's sperm is and when to do the procedure. It all has to be timed perfectly and I'm so worried that it won't be. What if Josh and I um... you know... and it is the wrong day and his sperm is too old or too new to be used? That happened in December and it's like a wasted month. We have to do it every other day, so how do we know which day to and which day not?

I know I need to think positive thoughts, and I am, but I'm also scared. I want this so badly. I need lots of prayers... Prayers that I can stay positive, that things will work out as they should (they always do), that the doctor's know exactly what they are doing. Bottom line, I need to have more faith. Dr. Chantilis is supposed to be one of the best doctors in Dallas, so I need to trust him and his staff. They want me to get pregnant as much as I do, right?

Prenatal Vitamins - Yummy!

By now we've all heard about the benefits of taking prenatal vitamins a minimum of 3 months prior to pregnancy, but I have a lot of friends that are currently taking prenatal vitamins and from what I've heard, most of them do not like the vitamin they're taking for one reason or another - they are too big, taste bad, make them sick, etc.

I happen to LOVE my vitamin so I thought I would share it with you in case you want to try something new. It's called PRENEXA. It is a soft-gel, not too big, goes down easy and you can take it on an empty stomach and you will not get sick! I've been on it for 13 months now and I can honestly say that I love taking it! I think I'll definitely continue on it even after pregnancy.

However, there is one small drawback. It's expensive. Mine costs $50 per month and there is not a generic version, but personally, I think it's worth it! My hair is growing like crazy and maybe it's my imagination, but I think it's even getting a little thicker.

For more information, I have provided the PRENEXA link: http://www.prenexa.com/

Let the craziness begin...

I am back on clomid and have two days after today to take it. Last time I took clomid, it made me very irritable and moody. It was NOT fun! Today is my third day and so far, so good, so hopefully this time won't be so bad. I go back to Dr. Chantilis on Sunday, Feb. 21st for a sonogram to see how big my follicles are (I have 10 in my left and 6-7 in my right). Once they reach 20 (cm, mm, ?) then I will take a shot in my belly (Ovadril) to make me ovulate and 36 hours after that, I will have IUI (intra-uterine insemination).

We are praying BIG TIME that February is our magical month!

Have you ever seen Bill Pullman & Dr. Chantilis in the same room? Me either.

Explanation of Picture

Thursday, February 4, 2010
Today I had my post-op exam with Dr. Chantilis. He did a sonogram and everything looks good. He said they got everything they went in for, so that was good. There seems to be a little scar tissue, but nothing to worry about. I should start my period in a week or so and I'll go in on the third day of my period and will start clomid again at that time. YAY!

He also explained the pictures that he gave us after my surgery (posted earlier this week), so here it is with the polyps pointed out. The after picture is just what he called "fluffy" (it's a medical term - it's science.) material from the removal process.

Cool Pictures! Not.

Tuesday, February 2, 2010

Just thought I'd share with you the pictures that Dr. Chantilis gave us of my uterus "before" and "after" my surgery. Not sure what exactly we're looking at here; Dr. Chantilis explained it to Josh while I was still under and he doesn't remember, but cool, right? Right?!
The pictures on the top are the "Before" pictures and the ones on the bottom are the "After". Looks like I was doing better "before", doesn't it?
